Obituary for David S. Rowe

CALAIS - David S. Rowe, age 87, of Charlotte, Maine died on September 12, 2022 at Madigan Estates Nursing Home in Houlton, Maine. David was born in Gardiner, Maine to Franklin W and Helen G (Saltmarsh) Rowe.

David is a graduate of LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a Maine State Game Warden in the 1960’s. In the 1970’s he and his family settled in Charlotte, Maine where he had accepted a position as Math Professor at Washington County Community College where he taught mathematics for over 37 years.

David was a loving husband and father. He married Hazel A. (Hopkins) Rowe on June 27, 1959 in Augusta Maine. He was well known in his community and was involved in his local church for much of his life. He enjoyed working in his garden, and spending time with his two grandchildren, family and friends. He also loved reading and studying the Bible with his wife.

David is survived by his wife Hazel of Mapleton, Maine, his son Rev. David H. & Vicki L. (Joy) Rowe of Mapleton; his grandchildren: Tyler D. & Rebecca (Smart) Rowe of Bangor and Victoria J. Rowe of Presque Isle, and great-granddaughter Emily of Bangor. Also, a brother Robert Rowe (& his wife Del) of Hampton, Maine and a sister Debbie (& her husband Mike) of Augusta and several nieces and nephews.

A private military graveside service is being planned for close family and friends in Charlotte. The family would like to thank the staff at Madigan Estates Nursing Home in Houlton who cared for and loved him the past few months, with special thanks to Dr. Abouleish.
