Obituary for Jean Mary Root

Jean Mary Root
DANFORTH - Jean Mary Root, 76, went home to be with the Lord on the morning of March 22, 2021. She was born December 21, 1944 in Charleston, South Carolina to Bert and Mary (Wilson) Boehner, who moved to Taunton, Massachusetts where Jean (Jeannie) grew up. She will be greatly missed as all who knew her recognized that we have lost a wonderful prayer Warrior.

Jeannie was a faithful wife, mother, and grandmother who loved family and family gatherings were always look forward to with excitement. She loves to laugh and cut up every once in a while, although she was generally somewhat quiet and reserved. She had many talents and skills that enhance people's lives made everyone’s day better. The Bible and church life was most special to her and one would be hard-pressed to stump her with a Bible question as her mother was a Sunday school teacher for many years and Jeannie followed in her footsteps. She also was instrumental in starting two Christian Academy Schools, one of which she became the principal. Jeannie had many accomplishments in her life that she would only credit with her Lord with. She maintained that God gifted her and without Him she could do nothing.

Jeannie survived by her husband, Robert Root of 53 years; two daughters Tina and Blake McQuade of Houlton and Angela and William (BJ) Cyr of Kenduskeag; six grandchildren Tiffany, Crystal, and Matthew McQuade, Lee, Jeanna, and Wilson Cyr; two brothers Donnie Boehner and Stephen and Kristin Boehner; one sister Christine and Elisha Meekins; one brother-in-law John Gidman.

Jeannie was predeceased by her parents; her brother Alan Boehner; her sister Sandy Gidman; one sister-in-law Leslie Boehner.

A special thanks to doctors, nurses, and staff at Houlton Regional hospital for their excellent care and attention given to Jeannie. She grew to love everyone there and said many times that she was happy to be able to be in the environment where people work so well together and show genuine care, concern, and love. Thank you Houlton Regional Hospital staff. Jeannie’s greatest desire for anybody reading this is that you may have a genuine relationship with her Lord Jesus Christ and let Him bless you beyond what you can comprehend or think.

A graveside service will be held for the immediate family (date and time to be announced) in Maine Veterans Cemetery Augusta Maine. To leave condolences and to share memories please visit www.bowersfuneral.com
